Thank you for the reply.  Actually since the time that I posted this question, I found the answer in the Q & A video of Beginner Lesson 2.  Creating a Form which has data from two different tables is not recommended. Rather, a query can be created which contains the data of interest from the two tables. and then a form can be created using the query as the source.  This works in my example, but the video suggests that this is not always reliable if the data is being changed/updated from the form.  In my case, which is a very simple example, I can in fact update the data (team scores), and the update shows on the table.

Ok great, so it seams you got it to work. If you run into any issues I think there are more then enough people here on this forum to help you out.
