Upgrade Access V200 to Office 365
Mike Gregan

Would anyone know if a service is offered anywhere for updating access 2.00 to current office 365. I see the path may be 2.0 to 2002 to 2007 then onward perhaps via 2010 to office 365 (We are licensed for office 365).

I have become responsible for many databases in version 2.00 and would like to pull them in 365 with as few broken forms and reports as possible. I did manage to get most of the tables through under duress after a hack a couple of years ago, I pulled in the modules as text just to see what would happen and I managed to cut and paste ok.

The databases were in house developed by a previous employee and I believe upgrades were suspended when some of the in-report coding functionality was discontinued. (if that makes sense to those with a long history in access)

I expect bits may break but I will have an easier time rebuilding it if all the forms etc. can be dragged in with/without errors. If I can get the guts of the forms reports etc. in I should be able to build on that.

There are 4 primary databases But 20 other minor ones exist.
The database of most interest is;
circa 160 reports/sub reports
circa 120 Forms/sub forms
circa 400 query/sub query's
circa 200 Tables distributed mostly

Any pointing in the right direction would be appreciated. Any what not to do would also be appreciated.

Windows server 2003
access 2.00 running embedded
MSDOS 5.0
Mode: 386 enhanced
Processor 80486

I have a back up machine using Windows 7 all 2.00 databases run well on this device.

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Mike, this is definitely possible, you just need the correct tools, etc.  I have a link on Richard's site to our site, but you can reach out to me via my email which is [email protected]  Our site is ServiceFirstConsulting.com.

As I mentioned, I have had to do this for clients in your situation.  What has to be done is basically you first have to convert the 2.0 databases to the .AccDb version using a machine that has Office 2007.  This has to be done as you won't be able to open an Access 2.0 (.mdb) file in Office 365.

Once you convert the databases, you then need to compile all the code, and then fireworks will go off as several VBA commands/code has changed since 2.0.

Again, all possible, but just takes time and effort to work through any or all error messages.

Let me know how I can help....

Thanks
