Morning
my client has a Cloud Server (VPS) with a service provider called Afrihost. SQL Server has been installed & a database created. Development was done in Access. Now the prime goal is to link an Access front end for 30 remote users to a OnLine SQL Server backend. Each user will have the front end loaded on their PC's (free Access runtime used). When exporting Access Tables via ODBC I cannot see these tables in SSMS. (apparently ports/firewalls must be opened?). I am new to this. Even though this course uses WinHost to achieve the same thing (I think?) will the course help me achieve my goal on the VPS?
(** note even with the much appreciated 60% discount this course will still cost close to R3000 (South Africa)- therefore my concern)

The ODBC settings app lets you check the connection (see Figure 1 below). Nowadays, firewall settings auto-configure themselves pretty well. I've never had to manually configure firewalls in Windows for many years like in the old days. If your connection is good and still can't upload, make sure the correct default database name is entered in the ODBC app (see Figure 2 below).
