Document Management Project

I'm volunteering for an organization that is attempting to archive their paper records.  The budget for this project is coffee and home made cookies!  Commercial document management systems are too pricey and complex for this group.  Ideally, I'd like to scan the documents (PDFs and JPGs) to a Google Drive that is mapped to their computer.  That way the files are in the cloud yet appear locally under the mapped drive. Due to the number of files to catalog, let's say we manually police the folders to have a maximum of 1,000 files each.  So that part would be G:\scans\folder001, G:\scans\folder002 and so on. The scanner software allows us to set a default folder when scanning and will name each scan with a sequential number.  Next I'd like to build an Access database that could scan the contents of each folder and list the files. Rather than attempt to write meta data into the actual files, I simply want a form that lists the files, then click a button beside the file name that opens a form into which I can enter cataloging info.  Things like document date, source, purpose, department, topic, etc.  This part would be very easy for me to tailor as the project evolves.  I could also create a query to list all the files in the folders that have not yet been processed/cataloged.   Then of course, we could query the document repository on multiple criteria.  The only part I'm struggling with is trying to figure out how to get Access to read the folder/subfolder structure to list the files.  Once I get that much done, I think I can take it from there.  Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?  Thanks  (and yes, I'll send you some cookies!)
