I am trying to click a button on a form to open another for set focus on a field on that form and close the form that I came from, but when I do that in the button event the new form opens and closes not the one I came from, what am I doing wrong?

Code is as follows:

DoCmd.OpenForm ("PropF")
DoCmd.GoToRecord,,acNewRec
JobName.SetFocus
DoCmd.Close

Try specifying the name of the form you want to close in your Close command. I believe it's:

Docmd.Close "FormName", options...

The options include things like autosave the form (if changes were made), prompt, or don't save, and something else. This is just off the top of my head.

Also, sometimes you can't close the form that is the one running the code, so you might have to move your VBA to an external module if it throws an error.
