Access 2 0 Database

Hello Rick,

Today I tried to open a Access 2.0 database in Access 2010, which failed. A little research on the web showes that it is not possible unless first opened and saved as for example in Access XP and than do the same to Access 2010.

Questions before I try to help a friend with this: Is there anything I could loose, are the forms, queries and so on convertable, could there be data lost in doing it this way and last, will this datbase be still fully functional?

Some people keep working in an old version because it is still funtional and meeting thre needs. But why ....

Thanks in advance
eddy peanut

Reply from Richard Rost:

I haven't worked with Access 2.0 databases since... well... since Access 2.0 was still popular back in the 90s. I've never tried to import directly from 2.0 into Access 2010. Have you tried perhaps just importing the OBJECTS (tables, queries, etc.) instead of trying to open the database file itself?

As far as WHY people still use old databases... I have to admit that I'm a very "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of guy myself. My BUSINESS database is still running on Access 2000. It works great, and I don't NEED any of the features in the newer versions of Access.
