Prorated FTEs
Nicole Duhamel

I am working on a database and am stuck on how to get the data I need. I have a table of physicians with their FTE (full time equivalent) amount, FTE type, start date and end date. I want to create a report that will only show those FTEs active in a given month. I also want to prorate (watched your rent prorate video) for the month of start and end (watched the between videos). I feel like I have some of the pieces but don't know how to put them together. I know you must be able to do this I'm just at a loss to make it work. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Yes I can do that. A little background first. A 1.0 FTE works 1,692 clinical hours a year or 141 clinical hours a month. Physicians don't always start on the first day of the month or leave on the last. So for those months their FTE needs to prorated for the time they are there.

Getting a physicians clinical FTE is a calculation. It's their HR FTE minus any other FTE (admin, education, etc) and the balance is there clinical FTE.

Example Dr. Spock's FTE 1.0 HR -.25 Admin = .75 Clinical. He has a start date of 03/17/24, March has 31 days.
March report would show 0.36 clinical FTE.
Formula = (days employed / total days in month) * clinical FTE
                                 (15/31)*.75 = .36

Thanks!
Nicole
