Advanced Development Shell

? Are you starting from scratch developing your next application?

? Is it time to take your one-up application to the next level for enterprise computing?

? Are you a new developer to Access and a bit overwhelmed with all the infrastructure you realize you need to build first?

The Advanced Development Shell just might be what you've been looking for to get a leg-up on that Access project you're tasked with.

It might be worth your while to procrastinate 15 minutes more and check out:
https://www.youtube.com/@adbs_ads

Watch videos:
1 - Introduction to Advanced Development Shell (ADS)
2 - Installing the ADS demo file
(YouTube doesn't want to show them in the order I would like)

Did I mention that if you watch the YouTube videos mentioned, you'll see how to request a FREE evaluation copy of the ADS? While it will be an .accde file, you can look at the tables. After doing that, you'll probably think, "Holy code cow Batman, there's a lot of stuff going on there, and we don't want to reinvent that wheel for the Batmobile!"

It's been a little more than a year since the ADS was first announced here on 599CD.com. Below is a list of the top 25 enhancements found in the latest release, version 1_24:

1. Finalized normalized tables and forms for international addresses
2. Address form that provides for varied uses and map interfacing
3. Added Geo levels to cover the entire known universe
4. Implemented automatic vertical scrolling in forms for entry controls
5. Added user wildcards to search forms
6. Eliminate confusing form closing and VBA procedures
7. Faster and easier form control by adding object array for all form objects
8. Suppress certain keystrokes that cause unruly behavior in forms
9. Added international time zones and integrated them with network resources
10. Added table control of form record sorting and selection
11. Cleanup of permissions and added hierarchies to reduce number of records
12. Moved login, menu and help tables and forms to their own application module
13. Massive Id reorganization of helper and translate tables
14. Cleanup of naming of entry controls in forms to numeric standard
15. Added user levels for power user and super administrator with ability to invoke APS
16. Enhanced helps for record groups (grp) with enhanced chain display
17. Streamlined display to one control for calculated display controls of foreign data
18. Added "Id" to all prompts of foreign data prompts to help identify table relationships
19. Moved and enhanced user activity logging for data administrator viewing
20. Implemented table cascading relationships for easier ID changes to helper tables
21. Added colors to checkbox labels to conform to entry color scheme
22. More utility procedures to help developers debug VBA code
23. Enhanced shutdown of forms when encountering coding bugs requiring a variable reset
24. Enhanced tabbing in Menu Form eliminating need for mouse selection of user groups
25. Continued cleanup and better organizing of front and back-end control options.

In other words, the Batmobile has sprouted wings!

Free (as in no strings attached) 64-bit evaluation installs are available in English for the USA and Spanish for Colombia. In addition to the variety of videos found on YouTube to explain certain features, a new thirty-minute video demonstrating developer features for the evaluation file can be found here:
