Resizing report preview window
Robert Freeman

Hi. I have a report print preview that opens from a button on a form. I have successfully resized the preview but I now need to set the window width so that the report can be viewed on screen without horizontal scrolling. I'm guessing Richard may have covered this somewhere in one of his videos - would someone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction. Many thanks.

Hi Robert

Have you checked that the zoom property is set to "Fit"?

Hi Sami. Here is the code I'm using to call the report:
DoCmd.OpenReport "CommitteeMemberR", acViewPreview, , , acWindowNormal
    DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdZoom100

The report opens fine but is so small as to be unreadable on a laptop so I used the zoom control to enlarge the content. The problem is that the report has to then be scrolled to see the report. The report size is a single A4 page.

What I am trying to achieve is a window size that allows the report to be viewed at full width.

You can either use MoveSize to move it where you want and to what size specifications, or maybe even use Maximize to fill the whole app window (which I don't care for). This has actually been on my TechHelp list for a while. Video is coming up, but in the mean time, here's a sample...

    Me.Refresh
    DoCmd.OpenReport "OrderInvoiceR", acViewPreview
    DoCmd.MoveSize 100, 100, 15000, 7000
    DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdZoom100

Of course, you'll need to play with the coordinates/sizes to your liking.

And Sami... this is another one for the list. Reports don't always reopen where you saved them. Super annoying.

Richard, it is done.

You can set the report's Pop Up property to Yes, so the report appears in its own window that you can resize freely by dragging its corners.

Yeah, but it doesn't remember those settings when you Save/Close/Open it, like Forms do.

You guys are awesome! Thank you so much - Richard's solution worked like dream.
