Access version US vs EU
Carolyn Bendahan

I am struggling with some difficulties, such as events not working properly. After checking the original download database, I see it's the same issue there. So, I assume, it is because I am working on a German system. If this is a known problem, what can I do? Or am I just having a stupid day?
I would be very thankful for some advice.

Msgbox SalesRepCombo.column(3) to see what you get.  Does Val() work with commas?

I'm going to have to defer to some of my other EU students to answer this one. I have almost no experience with any of the foreign versions. Sorry!

Is everyone else correct? Did you close and reopen all of the forms?

thank you Matt! msgbox shows 0,1.  CommissionRate = Val(SalesRepCombo,Column(3)) doesnt work, if thats what you meant.

Thank you, Richard. I opened and closed everything several times. There are some more problems, I just thought I should start with the easiest one. Maybe I will try to change to US English settings. Though,
I am a little afraid, that my other databases won't work anymore.

There is a note on the Microsoft page recommending CDbl instead of Val if you don't use a period for a decimal.

Cool, cool. No idea what that's all about. But it works! Thank you! Maybe with that information, the other problems will be solved too. I will go on and try.

I found out that there is a standard difficulty while working with EU settings, and I found a video with a workaround. As it might help other students from Europe, I am sharing a link to the video that helped me, as well as a short overview of the problem in the screenshots. Thanks for sharing, Carolyn. One of my weaknesses is that I have very limited experience with the foreign language versions of Office.
