Hi Richard, Can you tell how or where I can find out the following. I need to import a XLS price-list weekly and it needs to add all the new products not in the ProductT and update the prices as per the XLS. How do i Prevent it form making duplicates when appending the ProductT.

I want to make it easy, Safe the XLS file in a specific folder and press the import button in Access program

I'm actually going to cover this in a short seminar I have coming up on importing BANK STATEMENT DATA into an Access database. The same concept applies: you download the statement from your bank's web site, check to see if that transaction is in the table or not (unique transaction ID) and if not, append it. Maybe

I would use a RECORDSET for this. In your case, the logic would be:

1. Import (or link to) the XLS file
2. Read in a record (row)
3. DLOOKUP to see if that ID is in your table
4. If it IS, then UPDATE the price and date/time
5. if it is NOT, then APPEND the record
6. goto 2

I'll add this example to the seminar too, because with a bank statement you wouldn't be UPDATING any of the records, just adding ones that aren't in there.
