Corrupt Mdw file
John Campbell

Yes, believe it or not I have clients that use the system build security in MS Access.  This is still an option in 365, but Microsoft has just removed it from the general menu.

This involves using a copy of the system.mdw file and then setting up groups and users.  The mdw file contains all of the users, groups and permissions.

The problem I am having is the mdw file keeps getting corrupted.  Yes, I can repair it or actually restore from backup, but I can't figure out why this file is getting corrupted.  The actual database is not corrupted.

I honestly have not touched an MDW file since 2010 or so; so any knowledge I have of that's going to be way out of date. Planned obsolescence? LOL

Yes, I agree.  Microsoft never got the interface done correctly.  It actually is still out there, and there is even a user security wizard that walks you through the whole process.  It's under the "all menus" option in the ribbon.   It works perfect if you know what you are doing as far as setting it up, but a tad pain to maintain.

Per my post, I repaired the mdw file and will just do this periodically going forward.......
