Time card calculate hours worked
SW p

TimeSheetID / EmployeeNumber (1 or 2 or etc) / Date (07/18/2012 stamp) / Time (11:11:12 AM Stamp)/ Description (either Logged In or Logged Out).

Reply from Richard Rost:

This is the better but, unfortunately, more complicated of the two methods to deal with. :)

I would use a DMAX function. Since every logOUT has to have a corresponding logIN, I would make a query showing all of the logOUTs and then use DMAX to get the logIN just before that logOUT. Like this:

LastLogin: DMAX("LoginTime","LogT","How=LOGIN AND EmployeeID=" & ID & " AND DateTimeStamp < #" & LogOutTime & "#")

In English this says, "give me the most recent (MAX) logIN time for the current employee which is right before the current logOUT time." Of course, you'll need to change your variables around but this is basically how to do it.

Also, consider merging your DATE and TIME fields together into one. No reason to keep them separate and it makes your queries and calculations easier.

Now with this query built you have a list of logIN and logOUT times. You can calculate the number of hours between them, and with a little IIF function determine if they straddle the lunch hour.
