Hi Guys,

I have a continuous form with titles of movie sets that I want. The details form list the individual titles in that set, using a sub form. How can I search by individual title in the continuous form with the details form closed.

Thank You
Michael

I've got a trick that I sometimes do where if I've got a bunch of fields I want to search on and I don't want to have all the fields on the continuous form.

Let's say you've got first name, last name, address, city, state, ZIP, sales rep name, a whole bunch of different stuff, and you don't want to have all that on there. You just want maybe a list of first name, last name, but you want to be able to search on their address or search on their sales rep's name.

Well, the trick is you can concatenate all of those fields together into one field, make it hidden, and then just search based on that field. I've actually got this on the list for a TechHelp video coming up soon, so hang in there.

That search seminar is well worth the money.  It straighten out a lot of issues for me.  For one thing.  I never tried to write a macro in SQL.  Well my problem was once I go to lets say a Edit form.  How do I return to the main menu.  Well the answer is to write a Macro in SQL.  Plus that seminar has all sorts of different search forms.  I took the code and converted it over to my application.  I also had an issue with closing forms.  Once again write a Macro naming the form to close.  I purchased it weeks ago.  I still have not finished watching it.  The manual is very comprehensive Nothing left not covered.  I started reading the manual and got about halfway.

You could also setup a form where fields are listed down the form.  From top to bottom.  I have seven fields which I search on.
That includes two check boxes and a notes field.
In conclusion Richard knows best.  Try his way.

Yes, Nathan

Access Search Seminar was one of the first seminars I purchased. Back in the day. It, like you, helped me understand Access and Search better. My applications today have that seminar's fingerprints all over them.

I agree Sami the Search seminar is one of my favourites too.

The suggested method by others is fine if the backend is MS Access but if its SQL server, then you need a lazy combo to load one record at a time otherwise it will be very slow.
