Converting Quotes to Invoices

Hey Richard, I would like to see how you would create a way to convert quotes to invoices, instead of retyping all the same information over. Also copying quotes and invoices (meaning if a customer wants to reorder the same items from last month all I need to do is copy the items in the quote and put it in the new quote that they will use to order for this month. Same with the invoices. I'm guessing it has to do with the append query.

That's covered in Access Developer 24. You have to copy a record (OrderT) with all of its children (OrderDetailT).

Converting a quote to an invoice is a different matter. Usually I just make a check box indicating whether an order is a quote (pre-sale, haven't decided yet) or an invoice (after sale, need to pay). But some people actually want two separate things - a QUOTE and an ORDER - so they have both in the system to look back at. In that case, see previous comment. You need to copy it.

You probably COULD do it with some creative SQL and an append query or two, but I prefer using recordsets.

On mine I have a IsQuote True/False err Check box, IsOrder True/False checkbox, and then isReturn Check Box.
