Wildcard Search

Hi Guys,

I have a search box on my form that I can search by description. It works great when the search criteria is worded the same in the search box as in the form. Example "book" "book". But when I try to reverse the words in the search box like "Small bone" to "bone small" it returns nothing. Can you help.

I also included a picture of my code.
thanks

It's not going to, it's working how it's supposed to, your asking it to return everything that is like "small bone", so anything that has "small bone" in it would be returned. If you want it to be able to split words up into whatever orders are possible regardless of how you type it, you're going to have a lot more going on. You would have to either make separate search boxes (the easiest way) for each word, or you'll have to take the string and manipulate it with len and instr, finding the spaces between words, breaking the words out individually, and searching on them individually. That would be much more complicated.

Thanks Adam for your response. It looks like I will be keeping things like they are. Much easier. Thank You

While that's a cool feature, it's the same behavior as the filter setup he is currently using, it doesn't allow you to search by words in any order, "ABC 123" does not come up if you type "123 ABC". Although both functions would show a result by typing either just "123" or just "ABC"
