MS Access Closing wo Saving
Dwayne Parker

MS Access is suddenly not prompting me to save forms, tables, or reports when closing them.

When you press the X in the upper right corner of the box, you should be asked if you want to save the object you're working on. Yes, you can press CTRL+S. But just in case you don't, as a backstop, you're usually prompted to save before closing. It has always been that way.

Has anyone else experienced this? Did I change a setting without realizing it? Thanks in advance for the help.

In Design View?

Hi Kevin,

If I understand your question correctly: YES, I was in design view.

Also, MS Access is now flat out closing forms I have open without warning me! I had several objects open, and when I opened the subform, it closed the other form I had open behind it.

I've had that happen in design view.  When was the last you did a Compact Repair.... or check and see if the lock file in the folder that should have vanished when you closed.  I'm bringing it up because I've been denied saving.

I remember doing a Compact Repair just yesterday.

Also, I noticed this problem happens, particularly, after my computer comes out of sleep mode. So, I closed MS Access and reponed it. Initially, that didn't work. But after the 3rd restart of MS Access, it finally returned to prompting me to save objects before closing them.

Troubleshooter. Restart. Reboot. Reinstall. All that jazz.
