Lose Connection to Backend

Hi.

I am running a split database, the BE file is on a shares drive and the FE file is local to the PC of the user. Randomly and somewhat frequently something will cause the FE File to loose the BE File.. If I have forms open that are looking at a table that is on the BE all the data will be replaced with  "Name" I will sometimes get a error msg to restart the DB, but usually just closing and opening the form is enough... should I be trying to programmatically detect of the connection drops, and just automatically reset forms ? IT won't do anything about the random drops of the shared drive..

Your probably going to run into a lot of corruption if your dropping connection a lot while using the database. I think the bigger problem is your IT dept not looking into the networking issue. Is this something for just your personal use or multiple users? If its personal you could just not split the database, if its multiple, you might need to go to someone higher up that can lean into the IT dept a little to do something about it.

Sounds like a networking issue. Wired or wireless? Did you run a packet scan?
