Concatenate Keep Format
Dwayne Parker

Hi everyone!

I'm working on a glossary database in MS Access and I'm looking to achieve a specific formatting and concatenation similar to the image attached below. The key aspects I'm interested in are:

1. Text Box Formatting - Each text box must maintain its individual formatting (e.g., italics, bold, color, etc.); and

2. Concatenation: Fields must be concatenated together to form a coherent paragraph.

The challenge here is maintaining the individual formatting of each field while combining them into a single text box, making it appear as a coherent paragraph.

I tried to use basic string concatenation (& ' ' &), but the text boxes did not maintain their original formatting after concatenation.

Does anyone know when in the course we cover the concepts needed to achieve something like this?

I'm currently on Expert 11.

Thanks!

How about Rich Text?

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the Rich Text video link (we covered some of this in Access Expert 5 - great class, by the way).

The options in the video are a possibility, and I tried some of them out this week. The text boxes maintained their formatting. However, as you can see from the attached side-by-side images below, I was unable to make the text boxes flow seamlessly into a coherent paragraph.

I'm almost positive Access can accomplish this. It's essentially about entering information into several text boxes and having the results displayed in a horizontal line to form a paragraph.

I hope the images clarify my struggle.

Look forward to reading your thoughts.

I'm out of the office, but if no one else is able to help you let me know and I'll take a closer look at it on Monday when I get back.
