Or use Max() in an aggregate query.  E.g.:

     SELECT CustomerName, Max(OrderDate) FROM OrdersT
     GROUP BY CustomerName
     ORDER BY Max(OrderDate)

will return results like below, a list of customers with the latest order date of each, sorted by the oldest order date:
