checkbox

hi guys, I have a unique situation I need help with. I have a form that we can send notes to all of our helpers using a checkbox in the form itself. Now when people login and the another form comes up with the persons name of whoever logged in, im calling username1. I need help with comparing username1 with the same name that is on the table with the checked checkbox. If they match then a popup comes up with a msgbox "you have a note". I am using dlookup but I need your help to see if there is a different way or keep using dlookup. I am having a little trouble writting the code. I will get it eventually.

Hi John, here is the code. If Forms!Dashboard!CounselorFirstName =  DLookup("CounselorFirstName", "Signup", "CounselorFirstName = '" & CounselorID & "'") = True Then.
I did try different combinations and this is the last one I could remember before I deleted all of it. This one was in a module.

Hey John and Alex. thanks for the help. I finally got it to work inside of the form itself. Now I am trying to figure out how to make a form field blink a different color after i was it to become visible again.
