Enter parameter

I have a report that runs off a query. When I run the query without any criteria (ie. output all records), its runs fine - outputs an Exel file of all records.

The minute I specify a criteria in my query so that only selective records are output, it asks me for parameters, and it looks like its asking for parameters of calculated fields, not the parameter for the field with the criteria.  I am really stumped. It should be pretty simple.  I have watched Richard's Rost and its nothing to do with misspelling as its prompting for parameters of calculated field. I also included those fields that are prompted for parameters in my report to see if that was the cause of the problem.

More than likely you need to make a second query, that is based off that query, and use the criteria on that. It's too complex in one.

you may be right there, because my query is complex with lots of calculated fields.  Will give it a go

Hi Adam, problem solved. Thanks very much!!.  Its 3 in the morning where I am, and I can now go to bed.  Also watched Richard's video again (watch it before but forgot the rationale) about using a 2nd criteria and it makes absolute sense why it was prompting for the parameter of the calculated fields.
