Continuous Form

I have a continuous subform that handles sales call information by customer. On the form I have a combo box for the contact names. Unfortunately, when I set up my contacts table, I set the contact name field as one field, not one for first name and last name.  So, the combo box gives me the full name and I am ok with that but I have another unbound text box on the form that I will like to have only the first name populate after the combo box selection has been made. I was able to get the field to populate with just the first name but it populates the same name for every entry. I want the first name listed that is associated with that particular record. For example, today I could call on Bob Smith and that is one record and two days later I could call on Steve Jobs with the same company on a different record. I want Bob to appear on his record  and Steve to appear on his record. How do I accomplish this?  The formula I used was =left(ContactCombo.column(1), instr(ContactCombo.column(1), ' ') -1).

Should have been ' ' instead of ' ' for a space.

Hi Brent,

Richard has a video that uses a trick to solve that problem. I looked for it, but can't remember what he called it. I hope one of the other moderators will remember it.

Thanks Sami! I remember the one you are referencing and I watched it maybe two or three weeks ago but I can't remember the name either. I am sure someone will remember. Thanks again sir!!

It may be the video on Relational Combo Boxes. When I want to find a video I Google it and Richard's videos usually show up first.
For this one I Googled "populate text control from combobox in access". Hope it's the one you are looking for.

It is the Video where he covers the combo box with another unbound field.

Is it the Customer Discount video?
