Multi Value Fields MakeTable
Tannim Hallman

When writing the MakeTableClientBackupQ, if I bring in all fields with the *, I get an error that says, "Multi-valued fields are not allowed in SELECT INTO statements. If I add all the fields individually, I don't get that error, and the query works just fine. What gives?

Are you adding all the fields individually INCLUDING that multivalued field?

I don't actually seem to have a multi-valued field. I can every field in and, as long as I don't use the *, the query works. I just click on the first, shift-click on the last, and drag them in.

I should also point out that the other two maketable queries work with the *, so it's something about that table.

Let me see a screen shot of the design of the table.

ExpDate is the last field.

Why is ExpDate Short Text?

Could be the Hyperlink fields causing the problem.

And of course, I have to ask if you've done all the standard stuff on the troubleshooting checklist.

I completely overlooked the hyperlink fields. This shouldn't work at all but it does if I add them manually. Weird.
As for ShortText for ExpDate, and not a date format, the short answer is that's how Richard said to set it up in the credit card seminar. Probably because we never calculate anything based on card number or exp date, which is the general rule for number formats. (See, I do listen. I'm just a bit thick sometimes.)
