Note: An 'Exception' is an award given to staff member(s) which relates to a time value taken off the days working time.  i.e. 444 minutes = 7 hours 24 minutes.

I have a Staff Table (StaffT) with a Team Table (TeamT), a Category Table (the category of exception i.e. 'ITIssue', 'Scheduled Offline' etc.  The Type Table (TypeT) is a subcategory i.e. Network down, Wellbeing event etc.  The linking table is the Exception Table (ExceptionT)

I can currently award these Exceptions individually, but I want to be able to make awards to groups of people, i.e. 20 specific members of a Team.

What is the best way to go about this.  I have wracked my brains for ages but can't get my head around this.

Hi Sandi

I see that you are working your way through Developer 3. There are couple of ways you can do this. However, it will require a recordset which are introduced in Developer 15 and this video: Recordsets.

Basically, you need to loop through the (20 team members) and amend the records.

How would you select the team members for the award? based on this, perhaps you can do this with couple of Queries.

Thank you Sami.  I've taken your advice and looked at the Recordsets Video .  Think I need to dig a lot deeper and study these to find a resolution.

a short-term solution, would be to build a temporary table to hold the team members you want to update (or add a field to the teamMembersTable) then build an update query to update the award.

We can provide better help if you share images if your Table structure.

Here is a screenshot of my Tables and Relationships - I am studying Developer 15 and 16, but would really appreciate a nudge in the right direction.  I am trying to set this up for my company.
