I am trying to build a databasse to keep track of Awards. What I want to do is create a button that will assign an order number to that award, based on the current julian date (just three digit day of the year) and the number of order numbers assigned on that day separated by a "dash". Here is an example, today being the 19th of December would make it the 354th day of the year, and lets say that I have already made three awards prior, making this one the fourth, so my order number will be (354-004). Is there any possible way to do this?

Well, you can us DATEPART to get the current day of the year.

DATEPART("y",MyDateField)

Then, you could write a DCOUNT function to calculate how many other orders are already entered for that date.

Then once you've got that written, you can use the BeforeInsert event in a form to insert that value for new records. See this tutorial for help on that.
