Aggregate Queries

Hi guys, am I thinking right about this? I have an aggregate query that I am using on a list form. My form has a check box that indicates if an invoice has been paid. But I cannot click on the check box to change its status. If I remember I heard somewhere that Aggregate queries can't update tables. Is this true? I have included some screenshots of my query and my form.

you are correct, Aggregate Queries are not Updatable.

did you watch the extended cut of Richard latest video ? Totals Not Saved

Sami, I haven't watched it yet but I will. Maybe in the case of the check box, I will try to make another query that is not an aggregate query to help with this problem. Thanks

Watch the video before you try anything else. It may be the solution you are looking for.

Which of the aggregate would you be wanting to change?

Alex I am wanting the check box to be able to change on the form. Sami I watched the video now I just need to see how to adapt it to my form, with me form being a continuous form.

I always need to watch the video a couple of times before it becomes clear.

I have an order form that I can change the check box. But then I have a order list form that lists all the unpaid invoices which works fine except the paid check box, I would like a way just to change the check box on the list form, not going back to the actual order form. It would just make it easier if I had a number of invoices to change to paid if I could do it all on one form. The Video has many good concepts that I will use in my database, but I don't see a fix for my specific problem.

Why does it need to be an Aggregate query then?
Just have a subform

The aggregate query sums the line total in the order form. If you look at the lesson about order forms and subforms in access lessons Expert 8-10 you can see what I am talking about? It has to give a total for all the line items in the subform and post it in my List form. If there is another way let me know.

I am trying the Dsum should I try it in the query or in the form itself? I am trying in the form but can't find the right punctuation. his is what I have =DSum("UnitPrice","OrderDetailT","OrderID=" & [OrderId]) I think the criteria is wrong. I will put it in a NZ function later when I get the right formula. Right now I get a #ERROR in the field.

Unbound and in the footer

Did you change the RecordSource of the Form?
Make sure ExtPrice and OrderID are in the underlying Record Source.

=DSum("ExtPrice","OrderDetailQ","OrderID=" & [OrderID])

I still get the #Error. I am sending the screenshots of what I have done.

Alex it can't be in the footer because I need a total for each Invoice that has not been paid.

I got the form to work. Except I have to use the aggregate query because if I don't it lists all the line items on the form instead of grouping them into one.
