Sub Form not refreshing on load
Greg Goossens

Hello all,

Wondering if someone could help me understand what i am missing please?

My subform has one field that gets one of its record from the parent form:
Me![PageName] = Me.Parent.Name

when i open the parent form, i would like to do a refresh so the subform shows the accurate data (allocated to the active parent form).

I have tried a me.refresh and me.requery on many events attached to the parent form:
goton_load, on_activate, on_current, on_timer, after 1 second, but it's not refreshing.

Note that once the parent form, clicking the button "refresh all" will update the subform.

Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

If it applies to your situation - Did you remember link the Master Field and Child Field on the Subform right? (Data Tab of the Property sheet)?

Hello, thank you for your reply.
In this case the form/subform are unbound.

Anyway, i am not sure what i did wrong with the on_timer event yesterday but today it worked.
So this is sorted.
thank you.

I have run into some strange happenings with Access if I have been Designing for a long period of time. I have found that it is best to save all the work and exit out of Access and come back in and more often than not the strange stuff is corrected.

I agree with @Garry. I got in the habit of saving and starting a new copy every time I finish a small portion of code or get a Form working. Disk space is cheap.

If I need to make major changes I hold down the Ctrl key and click and drag the file to make a copy.
I name the copy (without the quotes) "Database Name - BACKUP - Datestamp" - Datestamp is formatted yyyymmdd.
I usually keep a couple of backups just in case I mess something up.
