Make sure AllowAdditions (on the Data tab) is set to Yes.

This happens when (a) there are no records to display, and (b) no new records can be added, such as when AllowAdditions is false as Kevin mentioned, or the form's record source is non-updatable.  To prevent this, you need prevent (a) and (b) from happening at the same time.

So there is no data for the form to show but it does not even show the text boxes and subform when there are no records.  I tried to use different variations of IsNull but that did not work out.

What is the Record Source of the Form? If it is a Query, is it updateable?

Yes, a query.  When there is data, the forms work as designed to.

I appreciate you trying to help.  I got frustrated and scrapped the forms and started over going a different direction.
