I am always on the lookout for awesome utilities that have been released having to do with Microsoft Access. And I wanted to tell everyone about this one. It's from IslaDogs, and it's the Access Table Analyzer and Viewer Pro.

Now, a little while ago, I released my own utility, which was basically just to see which objects in your database take up a lot of space. It'll tell you if you've got a really big table or a gigantic form that's got some images in it or whatever. But this table analyzer is that on steroids.

This thing has a lot of great features that will go through all the tables in your database, including the system tables, linked tables, SharePoint stuff, tell you the number of fields and records in each table, the exact table size. My database doesn't give you the exact size. Mine is literally just used for figuring out which tables are gigantic versus which ones are normal size. I just literally export the table to a new database file and see how big the file size is. It's not exact.

But this table analyzer, this gives you really good readouts. Like I said this will show you all the linked tables, SQL server, Azure, SharePoint and so on. It'll analyze all the tables in your database including the system tables and it will make you a nice little summary report like that. That's pretty cool... Each field, the field type, is it a primary key, is it index, what size is it?

This is awesome. He's got a cool video on his website that walks you through using it and he's got two versions available. He's got a free one and he's got a more advanced paid one that's got lots more features and so check them out. I will put links to all of this below that you can click on. Check it out. Tell him I sent you.

If you have any other cool Access utilities that you use that you'd like me to share with everybody else let me know!

All right that's it... live long and prosper, my friends. I'll see you next time.

Intro In this video, I talk about a helpful utility for Microsoft Access called the Isladogs Table Analyzer and Viewer Pro. You will learn about its features, such as examining all the tables in your database (including system and linked tables), displaying the number of fields and records, showing the exact table size, and providing detailed information about each field, including data type, primary key status, and indexing. I also discuss the difference between this tool and my own table analyzer, as well as where to find both free and paid versions.
Transcript Hey there, Microsoft Access Fans. This is Richard Rost with AccessLearningZone.com.

I am always on the lookout for awesome utilities that have been released, having to do with Microsoft Access, and I wanted to tell everyone about this one. It's from ILA Dogs, and it's the Access Table Analyzer and Viewer Pro.

A little while ago, I released my own utility, which was basically just to see which objects in your database take up a lot of space. It is a little tight if you have a really big table or a gigantic form that's got some images in it or whatever. But this table analyzer is that on steroids.

This thing has a lot of great features that will go through all the tables in your database, including the system tables and linked tables, SharePoint stuff, tell you the number of fields and records in each table, and the exact table size. My database does not give you the exact size. Mine is literally just used for figuring out which tables are gigantic versus which ones are normal size. I just literally export the table to a new database file and see how big the file size is. It's not exact.

But this table analyzer gives you really good readouts. Like I said, this will show you all the linked tables, SQL Server, Azure, SharePoint, and so on. It will analyze all the tables in your database, including the system tables, and it will make a nice little summary report like that.

That's pretty cool. Look at that. Each field, the field type, is it a primary key? Is it indexed? What size is it? This is awesome.

He has a cool video on his website that walks you through using it. He has two versions available. There's a free one, kind of like what I do. He's got a free one. He's got a more advanced paid one that's got lots more features in it.

So check them out. I will put links to all of this down below. You can go click on it, go check it out, tell them I sent you.

If you have any other cool Access utilities that you use that you want me to share with everybody else, let me know.

All right, that's it. Live long and prosper, my friends. I'll see you next time.

Summary Today's video from Access Learning Zone is all about a useful Microsoft Access utility that I recently discovered. I am always searching for new and helpful tools for Access, and I wanted to share this particular one with you. It is called the Access Table Analyzer and Viewer Pro from ILA Dogs.

Previously, I released my own utility to help determine which objects in your Access database are taking up the most space. My tool is helpful, especially for identifying large tables or forms that may contain images, but it is fairly basic. It gives you a rough idea of which tables are larger or smaller by exporting tables to a new database and checking file sizes, but it is not precise.

In contrast, the Access Table Analyzer and Viewer Pro is much more advanced. It can thoroughly analyze all the tables in your database, including system tables, linked tables, and data from sources such as SharePoint, SQL Server, and Azure. The utility gives you detailed information about each table, such as the number of fields and records, and even the exact size of each table. My own utility does not provide that level of detail.

The Table Analyzer goes further by allowing you to view summaries of each table's structure. You can see every field listed along with its data type, whether it is a primary key, whether it is indexed, and the field size. This level of detail can be extremely helpful for anyone managing complex Access databases.

ILA Dogs provides a helpful video demonstration on his website, which shows you exactly how to use the utility. There are two versions offered: a free version, similar to what I do with some of my tools, and a paid version that unlocks additional advanced features.

If you are interested in checking this utility out, I will have links available on my site. Give it a try and let them know I sent you.

As always, if you know of any other Access utilities that you think would be helpful for others, I would love to hear about them.

You can find a complete video tutorial with step-by-step instructions on everything discussed here on my website at the link below. Live long and prosper, my friends.
