Subtotals Grandtotals on a Report
Gary Becker

Let's say I have a report that has customers with sales order details with fields for sales tax and order totals. I group this report by customer, so all the orders have fields: SalesTax and OrderTotal. In the customer group footer, I add up those up by copying the field to the Customer group footer and change the data source to =Sum(SalesTax) and =Sum(OrderTotal). I have the Running Sum set as NO. How can I get the grand total of the SalesTax and the OrderTotal for the whole report in the Report Footer? I've tried Sum(SalesTax) over the Whole Group, but that doesn't seem to work.

Okay, I figured it out. Copying the =Sum(SalesTax) into the Report Footer works (Like I had expected it to). My problem was that I had one group displaying twice on the report, because I was using an aggregate query to get the ID and the Full Name of the customer and in some of the records for a customer, the customer's name was spelled differently. Since I was grouping on the Customer ID, the ID was the same, but the name was different and it was repeating that customer's group. To fix it in the aggregate query, it Groups on the ID, but not on the FullName, rather it uses the "Last" expression like this: FullName: Last([pFirstName] & " " & [pLastName])

It should work the same way. Please post some screenshots.
