Using Word to Fill Access Tables

Great video, Richard! You showed how to populate a Word drop-down box from an Access table, but can you pull info from Word to fill an Access table (i.e. reverse the process)? Can you use Word (with a series of prepopulated drop-down boxes) as a "form" that you send to a client to "fill out". You would then get the form back and have Access "pull" the info from the Word document? It looks like you can probably do this, but....

You can absolutely do this. Perhaps I'll cover it in a future video. Great suggestion.

I envision a Word document that you put together that's got a bunch of combo boxes on it. Maybe a survey or some kind of application because most people have Word. They can then save the document, send it back to you, and I'd have access to read those boxes and pull the data in. I wouldn't send them a macro-enabled document then because people get leery of that, but you can just send them a regular docx file, and then you could have access to pull in the data from that.

Excellent suggestion. This would be more of an Access video than a Word video, though. But definitely possible.
