Sorry to nitpick, but in case someone gets confused... At 12:30 in the 03 video you mention "all 17 customers." You only have 12 customers. The CustomerID jumps from 11 to 17, so an easy mistake. As you've pointed out, you generally want to ignore any ID field, but I think this is why some people want to replace deleted autonumbers since they can be used as a simple "counter."
I actually went back to make sure IDs 12-16 weren't somehow filtered out. : )

I wouldn't use an AutoNumber field as a counter. Even if steps were taken to replace those "missing" AutoNumbers all it would take is one deletion to completely mess up the counter. Counters should either be an additional field in the Table or a variable in memory depending on the circumstances.
