Good morning All!

I am using MS Access as a proxy for SharePoint's Business Connectivity Services suite between SharePoint Lists and databases residing on a SQL Server. Every Access table is linked (SQL and SharePoint). I've had latency issues in the past with SharePoint lists and added a Refresh Link statement when the Access database is opened through a hidden form at startup. Something recently changed in our environment and suddenly, I'm getting the following error:

The Microsoft Access database engine could not find the object'Cyber_Awareness'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly. If 'Cyber_Awareness' is not a local object, check your network connection or contact the server administrator.

However, when I click on the 'Cyber_Awareness' linked table/list in the Navigation Bar, the table immediately comes up. I am wondering if there is a relink statement that I can use (NOT Refresh), if anyone else has encountered this, or if there is another process i can run at startup that might fix this?

I believe I have run into this also, but since the list opens, then this is really another issue. What most likely is happening is your refresh statement may not be working, but again, if the list opens anyway, you may not need it. When I open an Access database, it does take a few seconds for the tables from SP to refresh...

That's sort of what I imagined, that there is some delay, perhaps a review of certificates. When I disable the programmatic refresh and manually click on the linked table/list in the Navigation Bar, the first time fails or errors out like listed above and then the second click reveals the data from the list. I'm wondering how I can initiate that first click or relink the list at opening and thereby eliminate any further errors, such as adding a "relink" command as part of the Error Handling?

You could open the form that the list is based on when you open the database and make it hidden when the db opens. Then, if the user clicks on a button, then that form is already open and possibly would not get the refresh issue...

I hadn't considered that tact...I ended up revising the error handling and then cleared the error at startup. I have no idea what changed but the initial interface ping from Access to SharePoint always fails now and the second one succeeds; without any further certificate information or data from my end. I'm perplexed, but it works for now. Thank you for responding!!
