Yes, but this only compacts and repairs the front-end, not the back-end. The back-end is where the data is, so this basically does no good unless you've got temporary tables or something in the front-end that you want to make sure you get rid of all that empty space. Plus, I'm really not a fan of compact on close. Plus, if you have a network setup where everyone's got their own frontend as they're supposed to, anytime you push an update to everybody, they're getting a fresh copy of the frontend anyway. So it really doesn't matter if you compact it on a regular basis.

As far as compacting your back-end database, that's something that I recommend running as an event, maybe once a week at a time when no one's in the database, like Sunday at 3am. Use a tool like this: Access Compactor Template.
