Counting Absences

Is there a way to count the justified, unjustified and the whole absences for a particular time period?

Then you might need an Aggregate Query with a Count:

And your query should use something like Between two dates:

Is there a way to count the number of presences and absences (from the field Present) for a particular student and for a particular time period?

Yes, you can.

Use Aggregate Query to count what you want and select the date periods

Please be more specific. See Rule #2.

I mean is there a way to count the presences (Yes or True, from te field Present), and absences (No or False from the field Present).  I know how to count the presences (Yes- Sum([Present])*-1. Could you tell me how to count the No or False from the field Present?

Take the total count and subtract the presents.

I actually have a TechHelp video coming out soon on Tracking Student Attendance. I've got an old tip video from it from years ago, but it's been on my list to do a TechHelp video for, so I'll try to cover this exact instance.

And I'm definitely bumping this up the list because I just did a Google search for Microsoft Access attendance and I did not show up in the top videos, which really motivates me lol.

In the meantime, here are my notes if you want to follow them step-by-step. That should give you an answer now. If not, I'll put this video together as soon as I can...
