L13 ServiceF Opens Blank
Todd Adams

In lesson 13, after I added the CreateServiceOrder button to CustomerF, my VBA hangs at the line Forms!ServiceF!CustomerCombo = CustomerID.  Now, any time I try to open ServiceF, even logged into MainMenuF as "Sue" and navigating the CustomerF to "Defiant Plumbing", the ServiceF form opens completely blank (and shrunk up). What should I do?

Thanks Sami.  I ran Compact and Repair, but I am still getting the same error message and the blank ServiceF (with nothing appearing on the form).  Also FYI:  The error message when I click the CustomerServiceOrder button says Run-time error '2448' You can't assign a value to this object.

Correction to my last post ... the name of the button on the CustomerF form is CreateServiceOrder not CustomerServiceOrder.  Sorry .. I typed too fast.

Post here the VBA code you have on the click of that button.

Yeah, post some screenshots and a snapshot of your code if you can where the error happens. Much easier to figure it out if we can see what's going on.

Wow ... you guys are fast.  Here is the code behind my Create New Service Order button that is on the CustomerF Form.  The debug hangs on the 2nd line:

Sub CreateServiceOrder_Click()

    DoCmd.OpenForm "ServiceF", acNormal, , , acFormAdd
    Forms!ServiceF!CustomerCombo = CustomerID
    Forms!ServiceF!StatusCombo = 0 'new
    Forms!ServiceF!AssignToServiceTech.Visible = True

End Sub

So you're saying that that service form opens really tiny like that? That's weird. Do you have it set as a modal or pop-up form? Are there any records in it? In other words, if you make a query with that exact SQL statement, do you get any records?

It looks like the Visible property of the Detail section is set to No.
