Barcode API

I'm finally caught up in the fitness series (currently 52). Been away from the site for a bit, work & life stuff. I'm loving the series! I have been on a health journey since June (with many learning cycles before then). I'm down over 30 lbs. and have another 25-ish lbs. of body fat until my ideal body fat percentage and am on medication that helps me feel like this time is possible more long term.

I created my own meal and body composition tracking database back then. I really like how this series database is designed and many of the features that are in here, I'll definitely incorporate into mine. Or more likely, take the final product and incorporate the couple of things that I do differently in mine. I track more nutrients in mine and I have a barcode API integrated into mine.

Which is why I'm posting here, since this Tech Help talked about using the OpenAI API for retrieving nutrition information. I found a site where I got an API that has both general food queries and barcode queries available to return nutrient information. I put in the barcode number and it returns the nutrient information. I don't know if I can say the name of the site here, but you can google "nutrition API" and find multiple sites. However, after watching the extended cut, I thought it would be a good idea to incorporate a barcode option using OpenAI. I tried it with ChatGPT for a couple of them and it seems to work pretty well.

Keep these coming! :)
Pease and long life.

Thanks Alex! Those are both good lessons. I'm re-watching them now. Currently I just type in the number for the barcodes. I thought it would be good to add that feature and incorporate either querying a website database with an API or use ChatGPT to import the info.
