Love Passive Warning!
Donald Blackwell

Just had to share how nice it is to see developers being trained to use polite/passive warnings for data entry instead of every field interrupting entry with a popup.

The entry forms at the factory I work at have intrusive warnings for everything. So, whether it's fat finger issues, or the fact that it's a dusty factory and they don't maintain the keyboards so they stick, or the keys are too small. And then, because the network is .... the computers freeze and you can't finish entering data w/o a reboot.

Ok, sorry about the rant, but it is truly nice to see friendly interface design taught and reinforced. Now, if only some $3B annual companies would watch your videos, lol.

Tell them if they want to watch my videos, I have awesome volume discounts for all their employees. And if they're a $3B company, they can afford it. LOL.

LOL, if only, but they already know everything. And while HQ has a full IT/programming team, our facility has only one guy who graduated a couple years ago who's over our 2 plants + our warehouse + one of our sister plants in MI and a plant that is closing... and his allowance is somewhere in the realm of "scavenge from areas that are no longer using them" to put in a requisition for next year's CapEx budget if you need to replace a mouse.

But, I have given them this web address multiple times, they don't appreciate my attitude, lol.

Yep. Companies like that are one of the reasons I got out of consulting. :)

We want this database to do EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN. Our budget is $100.
