Hi there i wonder if this is possible.  I need to make a report.  I have income and expense transactions. In filemaker (sorry)  you could do a subsummary and make a part   slso make 2 fields as summary fields ehich totaled all the diffetent incomes and expenses giving you a report of all the transactions and sorted sorry a bit long winded.  I can to with excel using sumif but would like to use msaccess.
Thanks.

Sounds like you should use an Aggregate Query and base the report’s Record Source off of that.

Here’s the video that’s covered in:
Aggregate Query: https://599cd.com/blog/display-article.asp?ID=1564

Access Expert 11 also starts going over Aggregate Queries:
Expert Level 11: https://599cd.com/blog/display-article.asp?ID=3027

AH Thank you will have a look at that.  I thought Access would have something.  Will check in when done.  Thanks again.

Hi folks.  Well the aggregate query did do the trick thank you.  But.  In the table I am doing the report on I use the category I’d number to save space in the table as you would expect in relational db.
When I do the query the grouped part is the id, how do I now relate the id to the actual category name to group them.  I could insert the names but would defeate the purpose.  Hope it’s quite clear what I mean.  Thanks again for your support.

I think I have found how to.  Drag from one table to another I’m guessing?
