If the database is open, and you do not want another copy open, can you just switch to the open database process in VBA?

The answer is found here: AppActivate

Sorry, I'm just seeing this now, Joe. Sometimes if I miss a new forum post at first and then it falls off the bottom of that New Comments page I made, I don't always go back and catch all the older ones I missed. Glad you found your answer.

That trick I showed a while ago for opening an Access database in its own process, so it has its own memory space and other databases can't take it down, is something I actually stopped using for a few of my databases. I'd click the shortcut on my desktop and open a second copy because I didn't realize I already had one running minimized. Before I knew it, I'd have three or four copies of the same database open.

That's when I put in the warning: "Hey, you already got it open, dumbass!" You have to use either technique with a grain of salt.
