Website Design Comments

Just thought I'd drop my 2 slips of latinum on the comment about your website.

As someone who used to do web site and online data designs years ago as a side hustle, finding your site as it is is actually refreshing. I mean, if I were designing it from scratch as my own site would I do some things differently, sure, we all have our own style of doing things, but what makes this site great is you can get to everything with relative ease.

It looks nice and has clean lines. There's excellent linking to each section and, just like with your database designs, you've made moving from one section to another related section simple so you don't constantly have to jump back 3 menus to go everywhere.

The only ideas I might offer would to be modify the top menu style so it would be statically positioned so it stays in place while you scroll the page. Especially on the phone, some longer pages/posts require extensive scrolling to get back to the menu. And of course, like you've recently taught for Access, a Dark Mode even if it were only accessible to be swapped in the browser menu bar. The bright white at night can get rough.

But both of those issues really are minor since the site is so well designed and knowing that you've built and maintained it all yourself from scratch makes it that much more impressive!

Thank you very much for the kind words. As far as a dark mode for the website, I haven't bothered building one because I use a dark mode browser extension called Dark Reader that I highly recommend. This way, when the system goes into dark mode (which I do with my Access database that I built in the developer lessons), it automatically kicks in in the browser too.

Ahh, just installed :) I was worried because on their site, it kept just saying install for FireFox for Android, but working on PC as well.

I have to say, other than non-transparent backgrounds on some images, I think the dark mode it gives gives the site a cool Happy Days - esque coloring/vibe.
