Moving Database
Wayne Shelton

I am trying to move my database out of one drive to only this computer. I have changed the default file and the trust center options, but the database will only download if the file is in one drive. If I block the onedrive and give a new destination. I get an error message saying it cannot find file in the one drive location and to recreate a shortcut.

If this is a split database, relink the tables to the new file location.

Joe is on the right track. Changing Access's default folder and Trust Center settings does not change where an existing database or its linked tables are looking.

If the database is split, move both the front end and back end out of OneDrive, then open the front end and use External Data > Linked Table Manager to relink the tables to the back-end file in its new local folder. Also check for any shortcuts, macros, VBA code, or saved import/export specifications that may still contain the old OneDrive path.

One important note: if this is only for your computer, keep the files in a normal local folder such as C:\Databases\MyDatabase\. Avoid putting an active Access back end in a synced OneDrive folder. OneDrive can interfere with the locking file and cause corruption or strange errors.
