Code Library

Hi all, I would like to see someone put together a db of good solid code samples of all the things like NotInList, DblClick, On Enter, on Load,  If Statements, Case Statements, DLookup, and all the things we use all the time but examples of each in different senarios such as filtering a form, not filtering a form, and so on... I would love to see someone who knows more about all these things than I and would gladly pay for it. Just go through the property window and go down the lsit and create this with various examples of different options and explain each one. Let me know if anyone is interested in creating this and a cost for it. I am quite sure it would be worth it.

Hi David. This is one of the goals of the MyPath learning system that I started building. It's still in its infancy, but what I envision is very close to what you are talking about. If you want to learn about form design, you go to that section and watch whatever lessons you want about that topic. If you want to learn event procedures, you can go to that section. If you're not sure what you need, start at the beginning. My current lessons tend to be structured around what I think you need to learn next. MyPath will be structured more like a book index. Check it out. It's coming along slowly. I've got so many projects in progress right now.

Thanks Richard, I will be very interested in this. I struggle with these things all the time and need a reference liabrary to choose from. I get so frustraited with using the web to find a not in list event for specific things and so much i just cant remember as i dont use them enough to get them correct. So yes, please......

The Web and Google are good if you KNOW what you're looking for. Many times, people don't know WHAT they need. People don't know what the term "many-to-many relationship" is, or "cascading combo boxes." That's why I envision a system where you look up "forms" and it tells you EVERYTHING you can do with forms. I don't recommend this as the best way to learn INITIALLY, but once you know what you're doing, it can be a more efficient means to find what you want.
