Someone recently posted this as a comment on my YouTube page. I was planning on getting to this eventually, but I wanted to see how many of you were interested in it? If more than a few, I'll cover it sooner rather than later.

Looking to how to create a Bill of Materials system (BOM). This is where a part (assembly) contains other parts and/or sub-assemblies, which may contain their own parts or sub-assemblies, which can contain their own . . . So, any part may be a child of another part with a certain quantity, and be a child of another part with a different quantity, and may have several levels of hierarchy. How do you set that up with tables and nested forms to show the full list of parts, regardless of numbers of levels?

That would definitely be a good topic for one of my advanced Developer classes. It will involve nested recordsets. I'll add it to the list.

I would definitely be interested in seeing this as well. This could probably be applied to the Assets Management seminar as part of the second installment???

I will defenetly be getting into this, and if this developer class does happen, can we add the bar code to it for tracking? I was thinking of something like this! WOW another JEDI mind trick...LOL or is it a mind Vucan meld ? Thank you James, Richard

Barcoding is definitely coming. That's been on the back burner FOREVER now, but I really want to get that done. Vulcan mind meld, my man. The Jedi are cool and all, but only the first two movies were any good. The rest were Meh at best. Star Trek has DECADES of fantastic material.

Yes. Completely different. Probably will have to use a Treeview or something like it.

A couple of years ago I created Universal Inventory and Sales DB for myself and a couple of other small Maker's that uses the BOM which is based on recipies and weighted average costing. Other's that use the DB wanted to beable to pick options for each item produced. I did not have a use for this so I never added this option, mostly because of the complications that could occur with the different options. I would like to see how you would handle this with the weighted average costing method for the different options that may be offered.

I have a client in the Double glazing industry who wishes to send quotes on windows for there customers.
windows can be uPVC, aluminum or wood, each window to there size and every window with all types of parts, prices changes on the quantity/dimensions and the market price of raw materiel + the parts that are manufactured
the glass units are also manufactured in many ways and there are many differences to every part of it.
sending out quotes will also include price for fitting them which also varies to each fitting as some needs special tools and material while others are simple and just needs basic tools and material
