Question about Queries vs SQL

Thank you so much for all your videos. You take time to explain things clearly, & i have always learned things from any video i watched. You originally posted a Tech Help video called "Backup Record Before Edited" in which you used the "On Dirty" event from the form with a Query. This event didn't seem to work right for me. I then found this Tech Help video in which you use the "Before Update" event which works perfectly. You use SQL in this video, however, because you say the Query won't work. (It did in the other video.) Which is the more efficient way to do this?

On Dirty allows you to work with the data before it's edited. Before Update allows you to work with the data after it's edited but before it's saved to the table. So it all depends on what you're trying to do.

Thanks. I guess my question was should i use a Query or the SQL? Which is more efficient?

Doesn't make a huge difference. I like using SQL in my forms whenever possible because it prevents littering your Navigation Pane with a billion queries. :)
