Append Query
Taruna Matharu

4 years ago
Hello Richard,
I am working on Append Query and I just cannot figure out what is that, is preventing the data to append. I am trying to append the Project # if not in the Table and then check on the field criteria if met. OR If Project # is in the Table then check for the other Field criteria. The SQL is

INSERT INTO JPPNewProjectTBL ( PIFNewProjectTBLID, ProjectID, MemberID, JPPMemberStatus )
SELECT PIFNewProjectTBL.PIFNewProjectTBLID, PIFNewProjectTBL.ProjectID, PIFNewProjectTBL.MemberID, PIFNewProjectTBL.PIFMemberStatus
FROM PIFNewProjectTBL LEFT JOIN JPPNewProjectTBL ON PIFNewProjectTBL.ProjectID = JPPNewProjectTBL.ProjectID
WHERE (((PIFNewProjectTBL.ProjectID) Not In (SELECT[ProjectID] FROM [JPPNewProjectTBL])) AND ((PIFNewProjectTBL.PIFMemberStatus) Like 2) AND ((PIFNewProjectTBL.EOIReceivedDate) Is Not Null)) OR (((PIFNewProjectTBL.MemberID) Not In (SELECT[MemberID] FROM [JPPNewProjectTBL])) AND ((PIFNewProjectTBL.PIFMemberStatus) Like 2) AND ((PIFNewProjectTBL.EOIReceivedDate) Is Not Null));

This is too complex and meaningless without being able to see your database. Break it down into smaller steps and check each piece. I'd make this multiple smaller queries first.

Prevent Duplicates should get you started.  Composite Key.
