I have an open statement that works using a sql string as the source.  If I add a new field to the table that the sql statement queries and also add the field to the sql statement, the new sql statement cannot find the field. I have check the spelling - no problem there.  Similarly, if I add a new table to the database, the engine cannot find it. Is this a bug or me?

More than likely it is you.

What is your table? What field did you add?
What is your SQL statement?

If you are designing tables while editing code Access may not update.  That is why you see Richard consistently Save, Close, and Re-open forms.  So that all of the new changes are loaded fresh and memory is re-set.

Sott ;
          Yes - I was editing and changing tables at the same time.  I did test of your hypothesis with close attention to closing before running - and as you proposed - the problem was fixed.  Thanks so much.  You saved me hours of frustated puzzlement.

Thx
RH

Robert -
That's GREAT!  Glad it helped.  Many times it is the little things and why that get missed in the videos.
