Problem with InStr function
Lars Schindler

If you ask a question regarding fruits (e.g. apple, orange, pineapple...) and "apple" has to be the correct answer, "pineapple" can turn up to be a valid item in your AnswerList (just because "pineapple" contains the string "apple" ;-)), but "apple" may not even appear in the answer list.

Not in the case of the Flashcards database where the question and the correct answer are in the same record.
By your example if "Apple" is the correct answer it is looked up based on the question so is guaranteed to be in the Answer list.

No. "Apple" is definitely not guaranteed to be in the Answer list, because the flashcard answers are randomized and the only validation rule is "If InStr(RowSrc, A & ";") <> 0", which applies to "pineapple", too. I tested it. :-)

You're absolutely right. I didn't test with enough questions. LOL
One workaround is to change that line slightly to:

If InStr(RowSrc, ";" & A & ";") <> 0

The only drawback is the correct answer will never be the first one but at least the correct answer will be in the list.
I'm sure Richard will have a better fix for this issue.

Yeah, I'd add some kind of delimiter like Kevin suggested. Maybe [Apple] or something. There's a million ways to do everything...
