Row Counter on form
Peter van Soest

Richard recently posted a video on how to place a row counter on a form, that shows the row numbers  like 1,2,3 etc.

The code is =DCount("CustomerID","CustomerT","CustomerID<"& [CustomerID])

This method works fine when the records on the form are ordered by the CustomerID

But when I apply it on a form which is based on a query, where the ordering is alphabetical or by date, it becomes a mess.

Is there a way to just place a row counter that counts in the order the records are shown?

Tnx!

I've moved this to the relevant Tech Help.

Don't understand, what forum did you move it to? And I know the solution you mention "Row number in a query" that's the code Richard uses in his video as well, but as I describe, that doesn't work in all cases.

You would have to base the DCount on whatever field you're sorting. So if you're sorting by LastName, you'd have to DCount the LastName field.
